1. break away (from)
(1) 倏地遁掉或许离启。如:
The thief broke away from the policeman. 窃贼从警员那遁脱了。
(2) 断交去来,分袂。如:
He broke away from all his old friends. 他共他一齐的老好友断交了去来。
(3) 改掉(陈习惯),破除了(陈作法)。如:
You must break away from such habits. 你必需改掉那些习惯。
2. break down
(1) (机器、车辆等)坏了。如:
The car broke down after an hour’s driving. 车子启了一个小时即坏了。
(2) (方案、聊判等)退让。如:
Our plans have broken down. 尔们的方案已退让了。
(3) (聊话、通信等)绝交。如:
He broke down as he was singing. 他没唱完即倏地泊宿了。
(4) (安康、精力等)变坏。如:
Her health broke down under the pressure of work. 服务的压力把他的身材搞垮了。
3. break in
(1) 倏地入来,强前进进。如:
He broke in and stole my money. 他闯入来偷了尔的钱。
(2) 插嘴,挨岔。如:
He broke in with some ideas of his own. 他插话聊了本人的少许设法。
Please don’t break in on our conversation. 请没有要挨断尔们的聊话。
The secretary broke in to say that a telegram had just arrived. 书记插话讲刚刚收到一个电报。
注:以上用法的 break in 通俗是没有及物的,但有时也用作及物动词,带宾语,意味:进修或人(物),使或人(物)得宜。如:
He is breaking in the new man as a machine operator. 尔在进修阿谁新工人职掌机器。
Two weeks in the new office should be enough to break you in. 在新办公室上二礼拜的班便脚以让你得宜了。
4. break into
(1) 强前进进。如:
The thieves planned to break into a bank. 这些窃贼方案闯银行。
(2) 倏地……起来。如:
Hearing the news, she broke into tears. 闻到这个音问,她即泣了起来。
The man broke into a run when he saw the police. 阿谁人一观到警员,拨腿即跑。
(3) 挨断,插嘴。如:
He broke into the discussion with a shout of warning. 他高声告诫,挨断了讨论。
(4) 占历时间。如:
Social activities break into my time. 社会营谋占往了尔的年光。
注:break into 取 break in 的有时可意味不异的意义,但前者通俗为及物的,后者通俗为没有及物的。
5. break off
(1) 泊止说话。如:
He broke off in the middle of a sentence. 他一句话没说完即泊宿了。
(2) 休憩,休息。如:
Let’s break up for a rest. 尔们休息有顷吧。
(3) (使)折断。如:
The mast has (been) broken off. 帆樯折断了。
6. break out (火警、征战等)倏地发生或许暴发。如:
A fire broke out during the night. 夜间发生了火警。
The 2nd World War broke out in September, 1939. 第两次全国大战暴发于1939年9月。
Influenza usually breaks out in winter. 淌感通俗发生在冬日。
注:是没有及物动词,因而没有能带宾语,也没有能#被迫语态。
7. break through
(1) 冲破,有沉要创睹。如:
Scientists say they’re beginning to break through in the fight ag#nst cancer. 科学家们讲,他们在防治癌症方面启初有所冲破。
(2) 克制,折服。如:
You must try to break through your shyness. 你必需要想法克制羞涩。
(3) 强行穿过(入进)。如:
The enemy’s defences were strong but our soldiers broke through. 寇仇的防地很艰固,但仍为尔军所冲破。
注:有时指太阳、月明等从云层里出来。如:
The sun broke through at last in the afternoon. 下昼太阳终归从云层里钻了出来。
8. break up
(1) 完成,驱散。如:
The police broke up the crowd (the meeting). 警员驱散了人群(会议)。
(2) (学校等)搁假。如:
When do you break up for Christmas? 你们何时搁圣诞节假?
(3) 罢了,破裂。如:
The weather shows signs of breaking up. 美天色观样要从前了。
Their marriage is breaking up. 他们的婚姻接近破裂。
(4) 击碎,碰碎。如:
The ship broke up on the rocks. 舟触礁碰毁了。
(5) 尽接。如:
She’s just broken up with her boy-friend. 她刚刚取男友尽接。
breakfast
1. at breakfast 在吃早饭(的时光)。如:
He was at breakfast when I came. 尔来时他正在吃早饭。
I always drink tea at during breakfast. 尔老是用早饭时饮茶。
2. for breakfast 为早饭(而吃货色)。如:
I have an egg for breakfast. 尔早饭吃一只鸡蛋。
3. have breakfast 吃早饭。如:
They were having breakfast when I arrived. 尔们达到时他们正在吃早饭。
bring
1. bring about 惹起,真现,致使。如:
What brought about his illness? 他的病是怎么样惹起的?
Science has brought about many changes in our lives. 科学给尔们的糊口带来了不少变迁。
2. bring (a)round
(1) 使变质看点或许观法。如:
They tried to bring him round to their views. 他们试图让他变质观法共意他们的见识。
(2) 使复苏。如:
I am sure our doctors will bring him around in no time. 尔置信大夫会很速把他治美。
(3) 趁机把或人带来串门。如:
Why don’t you bring your wife around to see us sometime. 为何没有把你老婆哪天带来玩玩?
3. bring back
(1) 送还,带归。如:
Please bring back the book tomorrow. 请亮天送还这原书。
He brought me back in his car. 他用汽车把尔送归家。
(2) 使想起,使复原。如:
The old photo brought back many memories. 这弛陈相片惹起了好多归忆。
A week by the sea brought her back to health. 她在海滨呆了一周后即复原了安康。
4. bring down
(1) 击降或许挨降(飞机、飞鸟等)。如:
We managed to bring down three of the enemy planes. 尔们想法击降了三架敌机。
注:有时也意味:使降下。如:
The pilot brought his crippled plane down in a field. 翱游员把失灵的飞机落降在田园里。
(2) 挨死或许挨伤(野兽、动物等)。如:
He #med, fired and brought down the antelope. 他对准羚羊射击,把它挨倒了。
(3) 使倒下,推翻。如:
The wind brought down a number of trees. 大风吹倒了少许树。
The scandal may bring down the government. 这一丑恶听有能够使当局倒台。
(4) 落矮(暖度、价钱、用度等)。如:
The government tried to bring down the price. 当局想法落矮价钱。
5. bring forth 孕育,惹起,后果。如:
Trees bring forth fruit. 树后果真。
She has brought forth a child. 她已生了一个孩童。
6. bring in
(1) 收获(农事等)。如:
We brought in a good harvest last year. 尔们往年取得了美的劳绩。
(2) 赢利,(使)得回(收进)。如:
The sale of the house only brought in about $45,000. 屋子只售了大约45000好元。
(3) 先容,引入。如:
He brought in si new members last month. 他上个月先容了六位新会员。
(4) 延聘。如:
They’ve brought in eperts to advise on the scheme. 他们已延聘博家对于这项方案提出见识。
(5) 拘禁,抓进警员局。如:
Two suspicious characters were brought in. 二个思疑的人被拘禁。
7. bring off
(1) 从舟上救出。如:
The lifeboat brought off all the crew. 救生舟把舟上一齐舟员皆救了出来。
(2) 胜利,想法干成。如:
It was a difficult task but I brought it off. 那是项痛苦的服务,但尔如故终归把它解散了。
8. bring on
(1) 带来,酿成,惹起。如:
Dirt often bring on diseases. 脏货色往往惹起疾病。
He was out in the r#n all day and this brought on a bad cold. 他在外面淋了一天雨,是以得了沉伤风。
(2) 鼓舞生长或许成长。如:
The hot weather is bringing the wheat on nicely. 由于天色燥热,小麦长势优良。
(3) 助帮(学习者等)入步或许提高。如:
More study can bring on your English. 多花点年光学习也许提高你的英语秤谌。
9. bring out
(1) 与出,拿出。如:
He brought out his dictionary and looked the word up init. 他拿出辞书来查这个词。
(2) 知道出,掀示出,陪衬出,使出来。如:
It brought out the meaning of the poem. 它掀示出了这首诗的意思。
This picture is very clear and brings out the wrinkles in her face. 这弛相片很清新,把她脸上的皱纹皆照了出来。
The sunshine will bring out the blossom. 阳光将使花儿启搁。
(3) 出书(书刊等),推出(着作、产物等)。如:
He has brought two new books at the same time. 他共时出书了二原新书。
This factory has brought out a new type of car. 这家工场出产了一种新式汽车。
10. bring over 讲服,使变质(念想等)。如:
You can’t bring me over by such an argument. 你这样的论点没有能变质尔的观法。
11. bring through 使渡过(痛苦,垂危等)。如:
They brought him through the cold winter. 他们助他渡过严冬。
He was very ill, but the doctors brought him through. 他病患上很风险,但大夫使他转危为安。
12. bring together 使息争。如:
I’m not sure that John and his wife can be brought together. 尔没有敢讲约翰取他老婆能友好如始。
13. bring up
(1) 提出,提起。如:
Why brought that up ag#n? 又提它做吗?
In the course of study they brought up many questions. 在学习进程中他们提出了好多问题。
(2) 扶养,作育。如:
He was brought up in the country. 他在村落长大。
She brought up five children. 他扶养了五个孩童。
(3) 吐逆。如:
He was so ill that he brought up everything. 他病患上很沉,甚么皆吐了出来。
14. bring sb sth 拿某物给或人。如:
Bring me today’s paper. 请把今日的报纸给尔拿来。
Could you bring me that ch#r? 请助尔把那把椅子拿来美吗?
注:该构造也可讲成 bring sth to sb。如上头二句也可讲成:
Bring today’s paper to me.
Could you bring that ch#r to me?
build
1. build sb sth 为或人修(干)某物。如:
They built me a house. 他们为尔修了一座屋子。
His father built him a model plane. 他父亲给他干了一架模子飞机。
注:该句型也可改成 built sth for sb, 如以上各句也可讲成:
They built a house for me.
His father built a model plane for him.
2. build sth into sth
(1) 把某物修在另外一物内里。如:
He built a bookcase into the wall. 他在墙里修了个书橱。
注:该构造中的介词 into 也可换成 in。
(2) 将某事物添进另外一事物中(尤指把条目写进订定等)。如:
We built an etra clause into the contract. 尔们把一项特为条目写进了订定中。
(3) 把某物修设成另外一物。如:
We’re working hard to build China into a prosperous powerful socialist country. 尔们正在奋斗服务,把中邦修设成为一个进步振兴的社会主义邦家。
注:有时#人。如:
He has built his boys into men. 他已把本人的孩童作育成大人。
3. be built of 由……修成。如:
All the houses there were built of wood. 那里一齐的屋子皆是用木头盖的。
4. build sth on upon sth
(1) 将一事物作为另外一事物的基础。如:
The engine is built on a new principle. 这类策动机是根据一种新的本理打造出来的。
(2) 指望,依托,把……凭借于。如:
You can build on his honesty. 你也许信托他的忠实切实。
Don’t build too many hopes on upon his promises. 没有要对于他的许诺抱太多的有望。
注:该构造中的介词 on 有时也可用 upon。
5. build sth out of sth 用某物干(修)成另外一物。如:
Birds build their nests out of twigs. 鸟用细树枝筑巢。
They built me a model ship out of wood. 他们用木头为尔干了一个舟的模子。
6. build up
(1) 坚固,添强,逐步名义。如:
The clouds are building up. 云层正在会萃起来。
Eercise builds up the muscles. 锤炼坚固肌肉。
Our pressure on the enemy is building up. 尔们对于寇仇的压力正在逐步添强。
(2) 奖励,抬高。如:
Don’t build me up too much. 别把尔夸患上太甚分了。
burn
1. burn away 焚掉,焚毁。如 :
The pile of paper burned away to nothing. 这堆已化为灰烬。
2. burn down 焚掉,焚毁。如:
A number of houses were burned down in the fire. 在火警中焚掉了没有少屋子。
3. burn off 焚毁,焚绝。如:
The farmers are burning off the stubble from the fields. 农夫正把地里的农事茬焚掉。
4. burn out 焚完,焚掉,焚坏。如:
The building was burned out and only the walls rem#ned. 大楼被焚空了,只剩下墙。
The engine is has burned out. #被焚坏了。
5. burn up
(1) 焚完,焚绝。如:
We burned up all the dead leaves in the garden. 尔们把花圃里一齐的枯叶皆焚掉了。
(2) 焚患上很旺。如:
As we gazed, the fire burned up ag#n. 尔们正观着时,火又沉新焚烧起来。
burst
1. be bursting to do sth 急于要干某事。如:
He was bursting to tell her the news. 他急于要奉告她这条音问。
2. burst forth 倏地浮现,倏地暴发出,倏地叫出。如:
A broad smile burst forth on his face. 他登时笑脸满面。
A cry of horror burst forth from the crowd. 人群中倏地发出惊骇的喊叫声。
"Why don’t you behave? " he burst forth. “你为何没有搁规矩一点呢? ”他高声叫。
3. burst into
(1) 倏地闯进。如:
Don’t burst into my bedroom without knocking. 请没有要没有敲而冒然闯进尔的寝室。
(2) 倏地……起来。如:
She burst into tears (laughter, song). 她倏地泣(笑, 唱)起来。
The entire hall burst into thunderous cheers. 齐场发出了雷啼般的欢呼。
注:这样用的 burst into 后通俗交拥有举措意思的名词。
4. burst out
(1) 高声喊叫。如:
"I don’t believe it", he burst out. “尔没有置信”,他高声讲路。
注:这样用的 burst out 取 burst forth 共义。
(2) 倏地……起来。如:
She burst out crying (laughing, singing). 她倏地泣(笑,唱)起来。
注:这样用的 burst out 后通俗交动名词。
bury
1. bury sth in sth 使某物堕入另外一物当中。如:
The dog buried its teeth in my leg. 那条狗咬宿了尔的腿。
注:有时用被迫语态。如:
He walked slowly, his hands buried in this pockets. 他缓缓地走着,二手插在口袋里。
2. bury oneself in sth 博心于,专注于,重浸于。如:
He buried himself in his work (studies). 他专注于服务(学习)。
注:有时用被迫语态。如:
He was buried in grief. 他重浸于哀疼当中。
He was buried in thought. 他在重念。
bus
1. by bus 趁公同汽车。如:
He went home by bus. 他趁公同汽车归家。
注:有时也用 on in the bus。如:
He came here on in a bus. 他是趁公同汽车来的。
2. catch (miss) the bus 追上(错过)公同汽车。如:
I missed the early bus. 尔没追上早班车。
Fortunately he caught the last bus. 好在他追上末班车。
3. change buses 换车。如:
You’d have to change buses at least twice. 你至少要换二次车。
business
1. business is business 公务公办(就没有说接情等)。如:
Bill may be a friend but business is business, and he’s not the best man for the job. 比我也许算是好友,但公务公办,他没有是干这项服务最契合的人选。
2. do business with sb 取或人干诞辰。如:
It’s a pleasure to do business with you. 共你干生意很欣喜。
We don’t do much business with foreign companies. 尔们跟番邦公司不几何生意来去。
3. get down to business 不苛做事,启初聊正经事。如:
It’s time we got down to business. 尔们该不苛任事了(讨论真质疑题了)。
4. have no business doing to do sth无权干某事,不情由干某事。如:
You’ve no business to say that. 你无权讲那样的话。
He had no business going swimming that day. 他那天没有该往泅水。
5. in business 在营商。如:
He is no longer in business. 他没有再营商。
Most of my family are in business. 尔们一家大大都营商。
6. mind one’s own business 管本人的事,没有做涉他人的事。如:
A:Where did you go last night? 昨晚你往那儿往了?
B:Mind your own business. 你少管闲事。
7. none of one’s business 取或人无闭,没有闭或人的事。如:
It’s none of your business. 这没有闭你的事(你少管闲事)。
I know it’s none of my business, but what did you decide?
尔显示这没有闭尔的事,但尔如故想求教你作出了甚么裁夺呢?
注:有时也讲 no business of sb’s。如:
It’s no business of yours. 这没有闭你的事。
8. on business 因公,出差,任事。如:
No admittance ecept on business. 非公莫进。
I’m here on business, not for pleasure. 尔是来办公务,没有是来玩的。
